The Staves and yMusic were on Live From Here with Chris Thile, broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday, performing three songs from their new album, The Way Is Read: the title track, "Trouble on My Mind," and "All My Life." The Staves also joined Thile and the show's other guests, Jeff Tweedy, Sarah Jarosz, and Punch Brothers, to perform the Pogues' Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York." The English trio The Staves—Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor (all vocals)—and New York City–based ensemble yMusic were on Live From Here with Chris Thile, broadcast live from The Town Hall in New York City to public radio stations across the United States on Saturday. The groups performed three songs from their new album, The Way Is Read, released earlier this month on Nonesuch Records: the title track, "Trouble on My Mind," and "All My Life." The Staves also joined the show's cast and other guests, including Thile, Jeff Tweedy, Sarah Jarosz, and Punch Brothers, at the end of the show to perform the Pogues' Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York."     The original cast recording of the current Tony-nominated Broadway show Illinoise: A New Musical is now available to stream and download via Nonesuch Records, with the CD due June 21 and vinyl August 30. The new work features music and lyrics by Sufjan Stevens based on his album Illinois, a book by Justin Peck and Jackie Sibblies Drury, and direction and choreography by Peck, with new arrangements by Timo Andres and music supervision and direction by Nathan Koci. The New York Times exclaims: “The vocalists do not seem to sing so much as pour emotion into our ears.” The Illinoise cast and on-stage band perform a song from the musical on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, June 4.
