Mezzo-soprano Joan Morris makes up half of the musical duo of Bolcom and Morris, with her husband, pianist and composer William Bolcom. The duo explores the popular songs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, also incorporating new songs by Bolcom into their set. Bolcom and Morris are featured on the Nonesuch albums Blue Skies: Songs of Irving Berlin, After the Ball, and Gershwin: Piano Music and Songs.

Morris has taught at the University of Michigan School of Music since 1981 and written and/or produced several musicals, including Mina and Colossus, The Police Gazette, and Barnum’s Nightingale. Her singing and acting has also been featured in other works by her husband, such as his Songs of Innocence and of Experience, Fourth Symphony, and The Beggar’s Opera.
Bolcom and Morris are featured on three albums from the first two decades of Nonesuch Records: Blue Skies: Songs of Irving Berlin, After the Ball, and Gershwin: Piano Music and Songs.
