Bill Frisell has won the award for Best International Guitar Player at the inaugural ECHO Jazz Awards. The award is being given for Frisell's latest Nonesuch release, Disfarmer. The ECHO gala awards ceremony will take place in Centennial Hall in Bochum, Germany, on May 5, and will be broadcast on German television on May 8.

Bill Frisell has won the award for Best International Guitar Player at the inaugural ECHO Jazz Awards, as announced by the German Recording Academy earlier today. The award is being given for Frisell's latest Nonesuch release, Disfarmer. The ECHO gala awards ceremony will take place in Centennial Hall in Bochum, Germany, on May 5, and will be broadcast on television in Germany on WDR on May 8, starting at 10:30 PM; a radio broadcast follows on May 11 at 8 PM on WDR 3.

The winners in 31 categories, including Frisell's, were chosen by a jury of experts, and an additional two categories will be decided by popular vote: Live Act of the Year and Label of the Year. You can vote online now through April 5 at jazzthing.de to be entered to win the raffle for tickets to the ECHO awards ceremony. Tickets are also available for purchase at eventim.de.

    The original cast album of Adam Guettel’s Broadway musical Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas, starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James, is now available on CD, following its recent digital release. “Repeated listenings compound the amazement,” the New York Times says of Guettel’s work, which “has always offered that kind of challenge—initially leaving a feeling of: Beautiful, but wait, I need to hear it again—and those up for it have a way of coming away shining like Moses down from the Mount. The new score has the same effect.” Guettel, O'Hara, and d'Arcy James—all of whom have been nominated for Tony Awards for Days of Wine and Roses—will sign copies of the CD at the Drama Book Shop in NYC this Wednesday, May 22.
