Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer, and T Bone Burnett are among the participants at the ninth-annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, getting under way today in Nashville. A highlight of the four-day affair is tomorrow night's Americana Honors & Awards ceremony at Ryman Auditorium, at which Thile, nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year, is scheduled to appear with Edgar Meyer, his partner on a debut duo album and DVD due out on Nonesuch next week. Burnett will participate in the keynote event of the festival's closing day, Saturday.

The four-day affair includes workshops, musical showcases, and panel discussions, as well the Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, to be held tomorrow night, September 18, at the Grand Ole Opry's Ryman Auditorium. Thile is among the nominees (for Instrumentalist of the Year) and is scheduled to perform at the ceremony with bassist Edgar Meyer, with whom he'll release a debut duo album and DVD on Nonesuch next week.

On Saturday, T Bone Burnett will participate in the keynote event of the festival's closing day, sitting down for an interview with producer Garth Fundis. T Bone was the first recipient of the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for an executive.

    Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra), who performs at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City this Sunday, announces new tour dates across the US South, supporting Bright Eyes, beginning February 26, 2025, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and continuing through March 22 in St. Louis, with shows in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. Segarra joined the band on tour in 2022.
