Louis Andriessen's Theatre of the World, recorded live during the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 2016 world premiere performances, has been nominated for the International Opera Award for Recording (Complete Opera) of the Year. Winners will be announced in a ceremony at the London Coliseum on Monday, April 9.

The shortlist of the International Opera Awards has been announced, and among the nominees is Louis Andriessen's Theatre of the World, released last year on Nonesuch Records. The album, recorded live during the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 2016 world premiere performances, has been nominated for the award of Recording (Complete Opera) of the Year.

Judging is done by a jury led by Opera editor John Allison. Winners of the 2018 International Opera Awards will be announced in a ceremony at the London Coliseum on Monday, April 9, 2018. For more information, including the complete list of nominees, visit operaawards.org.

Theatre of the World was nominated for a BBC Music Magazine Award in the Opera category earlier this month. To pick up a copy of the album, Andriessen's eighth Nonesuch recording, head to iTunes, Amazon, or the Nonesuch Store, where CDs include a download of the complete album at checkout, and listen to the album at Apple Music and Spotify.

    The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.
