Lincoln Center has announced its 2019 American Songbook lineup, and among the performers taking the stage at The Appel Room in New York City for the series early next year are Rostam, Gaby Moreno, Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price, and others. Tickets for the series go on sale to members starting November 7 and to the public on November 15.

Lincoln Center has announced its 2019 American Songbook lineup, and among the performers taking the stage at The Appel Room in New York City for the series early next year are several artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal: Rostam, Gaby Moreno, Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price, and others.

Rostam, who performs on Saturday Night Live this weekend as special guest of the show's musical guest Maggie Rogers, will return to New York City during the American Songbook series' opening week for a concert of music from his debut album, Half-Light, and more on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Gaby Moreno, who released a recording of David Rudder's song "The Immigrants" with Van Dyke Parks in July to support CARECEN and its efforts to empower immigrants, makes her American Songbook debut on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

Additionally, Rachael Price, the lead singer of Lake Street Dive, will perform in her duo with whistler, guitarist, and singer Vilray on Saturday, February 2. Thomas Bartlett, who released a duo album with composer Nico Muhly and accompanied Mandy Patinkin on his Diary releases this year, will be accompanying St. Vincent in her performance on Valentine's Day. What's more, Jose Llana, who starred as Ferdinand Marcos in David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love, will perform on Friday, February 1, and Oscar Isaac, who starred as Llewyn Davis in the Coen brothers' film Inside Llewyn Davis, will perform on Friday, March 1.

    Brad Mehldau’s After Bach II and Après Fauré are out now on Nonesuch Records. The Bach album comprises four preludes and one fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier, as well as the Allemande from the fourth Partita, interspersed with seven compositions or improvisations by Mehldau inspired by the complementary works of Bach—including Mehldau’s Variations on Bach’s Goldberg Theme. On Après Fauré, Mehldau performs four nocturnes, from a thirty-seven-year span of Gabriel Fauré’s career, as well as a reduction of an excerpt from the Adagio movement of his Piano Quartet in G Minor. Here Mehldau’s four compositions that Fauré inspired are presented in a group, bookended by two sections featuring the French composer’s works.
