The Black Keys launch the first leg of their months-long North American tour, featuring music from their new album, El Camino, with a performance at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, tonight. Tonight's tour launch will be followed by shows in arenas like New York’s Madison Square Garden, Boston’s TD Garden, and Chicago’s United Center, with special guests Arctic Monkeys opening all along the way. In mid-April, the band headlines two weekends at the sold-out Coachella festival and then heads out on the road again for the second leg of the North American tour through May. The Black Keys are slated to return to Europe, where they recently made a sold-out arena run, to perform at major festivals this summer.

"We have a lot of dancers. We hired Cirque du Soleil," Dan Auerbach recently joked with the Detroit News in a preview of the upcoming shows. "We're gonna have underwater high divers and stuff."

Actually, Auerbach set the record straight when he spoke with the Boston Globe about the tour—"I mean our audience knows they’re not going to get Cirque du Soleil, they’re coming to see the Black Keys, so that’s what they’re going to get"—the band's monumental year, the new record, and the forthcoming Auerbach-produced album from Dr. John, Locked Down. American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
