The Black Keys got the new year off to a rocking good start as musical guests on the first Saturday Night Live episode of the year over the weekend, with Jim Carrey as host. The band played two songs off their Grammy-nominated Nonesuch album Brothers: "Howlin' for You" and "Tighten Up," which is up for Grammys for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.

Twenty-Four Bit calls Saturday's show a "much-deserved victory lap" for the album's success. HitFix wrote of the onstage surroundings when the band played: "Just a bare stage in this case, which is all that’s needed when the music is this good."

You can watch the band's Saturday Night Live performances here:

"Howlin' for You"

"Tighten Up"

You can now watch it here. "Brad Mehldau is without a doubt one of the most influential jazz pianists of recent decades," ARTE says.
