Queen of Rock Wanda Jackson made her Third Man / Nonesuch Records debut with the release of her new, Jack White-produced album, The Party Ain't Over, in January. Jackson and White celebrated the release of the album with sold-out shows in New York and Los Angeles, as well as performances on the Late Show with David Letterman and Conan. Jackson gave a free show to a hometown crowd in Oklahoma City last week and has now made her way to Europe for the launch of a month-long tour there and back in the States. First up is the headliner slot at the Rockin' Race Jamboree in sunny Málaga, Spain, on Saturday. For the remainder of her European trip, Jackson will be in Germany and Austria, where she'll be joined by Chris Aron & Band. Though she isn't slated to head to the Southern Hemisphere this time around, the New Zealand Herald gives the album four stars. Aside from solidifying her status as forebear to the female rockers who followed in her footsteps, the album's "main purpose is to let Jackson give her trademark raspy-yet-gamine vocals a workout," says reviewer Jacqueline Smith, "and for White to have some fun injecting his modern take on rock 'n' roll into some old classics. The final product is a perfectly packaged piece of nostalgia, that balances quality with the sometimes brash and gritty sound of yesteryear." Read more at nzherald.co.nz.

The National, out of Abu Dhabi, says Jackson, White, and the band "let the good times roll" on the new album. "White and co have hatched a raw and exquisitely played backdrop that doesn't handle Jackson with kid gloves, and it places a woman whose career has sometimes been criminally overlooked back in the spotlight."
