Three years in the making, Amadou & Mariam’s new album, Welcome to Mali, has been released in the UK and is being embraced as enthusiastically as its Grammy-nominated predecessor. In a five-star review, London’s Observer Music Monthly has said, “Welcome to Mali will be appreciated by millions; not as ‘world music’ but as the product of an authentically global pop phenomenon.”

Celebrating Elliott Carter’s 100th birthday, this four-disc set includes most of the recordings Nonesuch made of Carter’s music between 1968 and 1985, with performances by such acclaimed musicians as Paul Jacobs, Gilbert Kalish, the Composers Quartet, Jan DeGaetani, Fred Sherry, Arthur Weisberg, the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra led by James Levine; plus a 58-page booklet, with photos, score examples, texts, an essay by Paul Griffiths, and tributes by musicians and composers.

This three-disc set with The Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Iván Fischer marks Richard Goode's first recordings of these masterpieces. “Goode is one of the great pianists of our time," says the Denver Post, "and he might well be without equal when it comes to the music of Beethoven.”

Essentially a soundtrack to the tranquil beauty of ancient Japan, the tracks here are performed by the Ensemble Nipponia, recorded live during the group’s 1976 tour of North America. Different genres of traditional Japanese music are represented here, including folk, religious, dramatic, lullaby and even narrative chanting—all showing a great diversity in instruments and their uses, as well as vocal techniques, formal construction and rhythmic patterns.

This first US release of the 2002 European hit offers previously unavailable bonus tracks. The set features evocative Polish singer Anna Maria Jopek reimagining well-known Metheny instrumentals with lyrics and vocals. All About Jazz praised "the intensity and creative spark" of Metheny's playing.
