Sam Amidon's 7" vinyl record Fatal Flower Garden EP (A Tribute to Harry Smith) is due November 15 on Nonesuch. On the EP, Amidon performs four songs from Anthology of American Folk Music, Smith’s beloved and influential 1920s and ’30s folk music recordings. Amidon and frequent collaborator Shahzad Ismaily play all the instruments; Leo Abrahams engineered, produced, and mixed. Sam Amidon, who begins a North American tour next week, stopped by Fretboard Journal to perform "Juma Mountain," from his album The Following Mountain, with saxophonist Sam Gendel. Watch it here. Amidon also spoke with the site's podcast about his music, touring, and more. The tour starts in Minneapolis on April 25, with stops in Davenport, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Toronto, and Hamilton, Ontario. He returns to North America in June for a concert with Kronos Quartet and a tour as special guest of Bruce Hornsby.

Sam Amidon begins a tour of the West Coast of the US and Canada, joined by saxophonist Sam Gendel, at Western Front in Vancouver tonight, followed by shows in Seattle and Portland and three stops in California: Berkeley (as special guest of Bill Frisell), Soquel, and Los Angeles. Amidon will join Bruce Horsby and the Noisemakers as special guest on their tour of the Eastern US in June.

The concerts begin at Charleston Music Hall in South Carolina and continue in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, and New Hampshire. Amidon and saxophonist Sam Gendel tour the West Coast starting this Monday.

The tour begins in Milton Keynes on February 3 and includes stops in Norwich, Nottingham, York, Liverpool, Birmingham, Winchester, and Oxford. Just in time for the 2018 US elections, Peter and Mary Alice Amidon have shared a performance from their 1992 album, I'll Never Forget, in which a nine-year-old Sam Amidon and his brother Stefan sing Faya Rose Touré's song "Vote for Me." The Amidon brothers make the case for the younger set, encouraging those who can vote to do so on behalf of folks too young to. You can hear it here. He begins a North American spring tour at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville this Friday, with shows in Lexington, Philadelphia, NYC, Brattleboro, Cambridge, Montreal, Toronto, Ann Arbor, and Chicago, plus sets at the MusicNow festival in Cincinnati.

Sam Amidon stopped by Yellow Couch Studio to perform "Pat Do This, Pat Do That," from his 2014 album, Lily-O, paired with "Blackbird" from his 2017 album, The Following Mountain, and "Another Story Told," also from the new album.
