    John Adams will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra in several performances in London and France over the coming week, starting with his Nativity Oratorio, El Niño, at the Barbican in London this Sunday, December 4, and his Scheherazade.2 with violinist Leila Josefowicz there next Thursday. They then head to France to perform Scheherazade.2 at the Opéra de Dijon and the Philharmonie de Paris, and Adams and the LSO perform El Niño, at the Philharmonie.

    Devendra Banhart, who has announced several US tour dates for early 2017, now announces several shows in Europe and the UK to follow. The tour begins at Auditorium di Milano on April 3, followed by concerts in Munich, Berlin, Brussels, Rotterdam, and Paris, culminating at Hackney Empire in London on April 12. Tickets for the London show go on sale November 30; the remaining shows go on sale Friday, December 2.

    Devendra Banhart has added 21 additional shows to follow his recently announced tour of the US West in early 2017. The new leg of begins in New Mexico on February 12 and continues into mid-March, with stops in Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Minneapolis, Chicago, Cambridge, Philadelphia, DC, and more, culminating at Webster Hall in NYC on March 16. Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale this Friday, December 2.

    Lake Street Dive, currently touring the UK and Ireland before heading to Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, has announced a two-month US tour beginning in February 2017. The tour will include stops at the band members' alma mater, The New England Conservatory in Boston, for the school's 150th anniversary; Meyerhoff Symphony Hall with The Baltimore Symphony; The Fox Theatre in Oakland; and at the Ace Hotel in LA. Fan pre-sale begins Wednesday, November 16; general on-sale begins on Friday, November 18.

    Devendra Banhart will perform songs from his new album, Ape in Pink Marble, on tour in the western United States in early 2017. The concerts begin at The Showbox in Seattle on January 23 and include stops in Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Boulder, and Telluride. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 18.

    In the 2016–17 season, the Barbican celebrates milestone birthdays of composers Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and John Adams. The series, Reich, Glass, Adams: the Sounds That Changed America, begins with two days celebrating Reich, who recently turned 80, and his music this weekend, featuring Barbican Associate Ensemble Britten Sinfonia and the London Symphony Orchestra. Among the pieces performed over several programs this weekend are Three Tales, Different Trains, Electric Counterpoint, City Life, Drumming, New York Counterpoint, You Are (Variations), Daniel Variations, The Desert Music, the European premiere of Pulse.
