Robert Plant was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. He joined his host for a chat and a performance of the classic doo-wop tune "Duke of Earl." Plant then joined his band The Sensational Space Shifters for a performance of "Rainbow" and "Turn It Up" (a web exclusive), off the new album lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar. Plant's North American fall tour launch in Port Chester, NY, was a "shrewdly rollicking concert," says the New York Times, mixing songs from the new album and Led Zeppelin favorites. The tour continues with performances at BAM tonight and Sunday for Nonesuch Records at BAM; watch a live stream of Sunday's show via NPR Music.

Robert Plant, who kicks off a North American tour Thursday and performs on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night, spoke with CBS This Morning earlier this week. "He is known as the 'Golden God,'" says CBS. "And he's not showing signs of stopping ... On his tenth solo album, lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, Plant weaves world music with blues, bluegrass, and a lifetime of adventure." The Black Keys were the musical guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night on NBC, performing “Gotta Get Away,” off their latest album, Turn Blue. The band performs at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn tonight and tomorrow night, followed by tour stops in Washington, DC, and Chicago. The Boston Globe, reviewing Sunday's show, says: "[T]he fact that they have been able to become one of the most prominent rock outfits of the 2010s while keeping things simple is not only a rebuke to arena-rock excesses, it’s a testament to their talent."

Nickel Creek—Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins—will tape a performance for Austin City Limits on Monday, August 25, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, in Austin. The trio returns with its first new music in nine years and for its third appearance on the PBS series Austin City Limits. Chris Thile also visited the show with Punch Brothers; Sara Watkins recently appeared on the show with the Decemberists. Conor Oberst was the musical guest on Late Show with David Letterman last night, joined by LA band Dawes and more to perform "Hundreds of Ways," off his new album, Upside Down Mountain. You can watch it here. Oberst, backed by Dawes as special guests, is currently touring the globe, including a performance at SummerStage in New York City's Central Park tonight.

Randy Newman's debut performance on Austin City Limits will receive an encore broadcast when the show airs the 2011 episode on PBS this weekend. "With songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores," says the show, "Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences." The show first aired in November 2011, the same week his latest album, Live in London, was released on Nonesuch Records. Ruthie Ann Miles, who plays Imelda Marcos in David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love, and her co-star Conrad Ricamora, who plays Ninoy Aquino, were joined by a few of their fellow cast members to perform "I Am a Child of the Philippines" on Fox 5's Good Day NY this morning. Miles and Ricamora also spoke a bit about the musical, which is now playing at the Public Theater in New York City. You can watch the segment here.

The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney recently stopped by Grimey's record store in Nashville to look through the vinyl stacks and talk with CBS's Anthony Mason about the recent resurgence in vinyl. The piece, titled "Vinyl's Got Its Groove Back," which aired on today's CBS This Morning, delves into what makes vinyl so special, looks at how it's made, considers its unique sound and feel, and talks to the band mates, "avid fans of the vinyl LP," about why it was so important to them that their latest album, Turn Blue, as with all their earlier albums, be released on vinyl. Conor Oberst capped off a week celebrating the release of his new album, Upside Down Mountain, with an appearance on CBS This Morning: Saturday. The band spoke with Stephen Colbert about the new album and performed the single "Fever." The Black Keys returned to Saturday Night Live this past weekend as musical guests, performing two songs from their new album, Turn Blue. The band returns to late-night TV with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight and an appearance on The Colbert Report tomorrow. Earlier today, The Black Keys will be on the webcast concert series Live on Letterman, performing live from the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC, webcast on CBS.com, after 7:30 PM ET.
