    Punch Brothers have announced a 2013 New Year's Eve Three-Night Extravaganza to take place at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC, December 29–31. In addition to single show tickets, there are three-night passes available, which include a limited-edition silkscreen poster. A limited pre-sale is underway now. The shows will come at the end of a three-month international tour that includes stops at venues across North America, Europe, and the UK; a New Yorker Festival event; ACL Festival set; and much more.

    Fatoumata Diawara, whose debut album, Fatou, was released in North America late last month, has now released a music video for the album track "Bakonoba." The video was directed by Sam Birt and produced and edited by OLO Creative Farm. Watch it here. Diawara, who was raised in Mali and now lives in Paris, recently completed a five-day tour with Africa Express and will launch a tour of the US on September 20.

    Lianne La Havas wowed the sold-out crowd at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC last night and is performs on WNYC's Soundcheck today before shows in Montreal and Los Angeles later this week. SPIN has premiered a video for her song "Age" shot by Yours Truly. Says SPIN: "La Havas is the embodiment of youth and beauty, and a talented songwriter whose knack runs the gamut from angular art-rock a la St. Vincent to breezy cafe numbers a la early Feist."     The first video from Sara Watkins’ acclaimed album, Sun Midnight Sun, for “When It Pleases You,” received its premiere via CMT.com. “When It Pleases You” was written by Dan Wilson, and the song’s video is directed by Peter Zavadil. Watch the video here. Watkins will be a presenter at the Americana Music Awards at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium tonight before returning to the road, playing several headlining shows and also joining Jackson Browne as a special guest throughout the fall.

    Emmylou Harris, Rokia Traoré, Fatoumata Diawara, and Oumou Sangare are participating in 30 songs / 30 days, in which female musicians from around the world have come together to support the Half the Sky movement. Through the 30 songs / 30 days project, one song per day is available to download for the month of September and leading up to the October 1 & 2 premiere of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, a four-hour PBS documentary inspired by the widely acclaimed book of the same name by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

    The Black Keys have released the music video for "Little Black Submarines," the new single off the band's latest album, El Camino. The video, directed by Danny Clinch, captures the band performing before an intimate audience at the Springwater Supper Club in Nashville. Watch it here. The band has just added a second London show to their recently announced UK tour in December.

    Ry Cooder, recently featured in the New York Times, was the guest on PBS's Tavis Smiley show on Monday—fittingly, Labor Day—to discuss his timely new album, Election Special, the specific stories behind some of its tracks, and the broader political and social climate that compelled him to create it. Watch the episode here. Cooder and Smiley continue the conversation with Cornell West on PRI's Smiley & West, a program that inspired one of the songs on the album.

    Singer/songwriter Nataly Dawn, one half of the duo Pomplamoose, has released "Araceli," the first music video from her forthcoming debut solo album, How I Knew Her, due out on Nonesuch on January 22, 2013. Jack Conte, Dawn's partner and the other half of Pomplamoose, produced and orchestrated the track. Watch the video here.

    The Black Keys closed out their European summer festival tour with a performance at the Reading Festival Sunday night. The BBC was there and captured their performance of "Little Black Submarines," off El Camino. The band was also featured on last night's episode of Le Grand Journal on Canal+, performing "Gold on the Ceiling," also from El Camino. Watch both videos here.     When Sara Watkins was in New York City earlier this month, she stopped by public radio station WFUV's Studio A to record an episode of Words and Music, out now. Watkins spoke with host Claudia Marshall about her life in music and performs a few songs off her new album, Sun Midnight Sun, with her brother Sean.     Punch Brothers will make their Austin City Limits debut when the band's performance airs on PBS on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Watch a preview of the show here. Also on the episode will be a set from The Civil Wars. The following week, ACL presents highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards Show; Punch Brothers, Chris Thile, and Carolina Chocolate Drops are all up for awards. The new ACL seasons begins October 6 with an hour of music from Radiohead. Punch Brothers perform live at the ACL Music Festival in Austin October 13.

    Nonesuch Records wishes Lianne La Havas a very happy birthday. The British singer, who turns 23 today, saw her first album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, debut at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Today, she premieres a new video for the album track “Forget,” directed by Alex Southam and shot in early August on location in Brooklyn. Watch it here. La Havas has added a San Francisco headline show, at the Rickshaw Stop, on an off date from her fall tour supporting John Legend.
