    Riz Ahmed, star of the Academy Award–winning film Sound of Metal, is the guest on the latest episode of percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie's podcast. He talks with Glennie about the film, in which he plays a punk-metal drummer who begins to unravel when he suddenly loses his hearing and identity. Glennie performs on the film's soundtrack, featuring a score by Abraham Marder and Nicolas Becker, which was released on Nonesuch Records in April. You can hear their conversation here.

    The original motion picture soundtrack for the acclaimed film Sound of Metal, winner of Academy Awards for Sound and Editing, is out now. The album features a score by Abraham Marder and Nicolas Becker, with music written specifically for the film and pre-existing works. The world-renowned percussionist Evelyn Glennie is featured on three pieces; other performers include Marder and Becker; actors Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, and Mathieu Amalric; Carolina Santana, Arthur H., and Martha Wainwright. “With its immersive sound design and understated storytelling," says Pitchfork.

    Sound of Metal was the focus on the April 10 episode of the podcast Soundtracking with Edith Bowman. The guests on the episode are the film's star, Riz Ahmed; Darius Marder, the film's director; and Abraham Marder, who co-wrote the film with his Darius. Abraham Marder also scored the film with Nicolas Becker, who won an Academy Award for Best Sound. "It's an incredible film," says Bowman. You can hear the episode here.

    Darius Marder, the director of the film Sound of Metal, is on The Backstory podcast to discuss the film and its sound design with host Jason Bentley and fellow guest Ludwig Göransson, composer of the scores to Black Panther, Tenet, and The Mandalorian. You can hear their conversation here. "Early accolades for sound design, and rightly so," Bentley says of Sound of Metal. "The use of sound in this film is a powerful tool to support the storytelling. Darius wrote the screenplay with his brother Abraham, who also contributed music, and whose song 'Green' for the film has been shortlisted for an Oscar nomination."

    "Green," the haunting closing theme from the critically acclaimed and award winning film Sound of Metal that is written and performed by the film’s co-writer and composer Abraham Marder and produced by Thomas Bartlett, is out now on Nonesuch Records; an accompanying video can be seen here. “Green” is one of the fifteen songs on The Academy Awards shortlist for Best Original Song. A full motion picture soundtrack will also be released by Nonesuch later this year; details will be announced shortly. Sound of Metal, directed by Darius Marder and co-written by Darius and Abraham Marder, tells the story of Ruben, played by Riz Ahmed, an iterant punk-metal drummer who begins to unravel when he suddenly loses his hearing and identity.
