Watershed, k.d. lang's forthcoming Nonesuch release, is the featured album on the latest episode of BBC Radio 4's Saturday Review. On the show, critic Robert Sandall calls "I Dream of Spring," the album's opening track, "the most beautiful song I've heard in the 21st century." Of k.d. he says, "She can do anything with that voice. And one of the things I love about k.d. lang is she's got this wonderful sense of restraint. You can feel the power in the voice even when she's barely using it."
Also on the program are writer Gillian Slovo, who concurs that "k.d. lang's voice is just glorious," and Kerry Shale, a Canadian actor and writer, who says of the album, "I adored it ... I thought musically it was wonderful."
You can listen to the episode online and hear the album track "Flame of the Uninspired" at bbc.co.uk/radio4. The Watershed segment begins about 36 minutes into the show.
