The duo also brought their collaboration to the Housing Works Bookstore Café in New York City, when they co-headlined SPIN magazine's "Liner Notes" series. The sold-out show, which raised $10,000 for the Housing Works AIDS Charity, was moderated by SPIN deputy editor Steve Kandell, and centered around Folds' and Hornby's process of writing the album and collaborating via email. The night also included solo performances by Folds on piano; SPIN notes that "Folds' virtuoso performances brought Hornby's vignettes vividly to life." Read more at spin.com.

If you missed last night's show, you can stop by the Barnes & Noble flagship store in New York's Union Square on Thursday night, where they will participate in Upstairs at the Square, the series that pairs authors and musicians. Journalist Katherine Lanpher will interview both men, who will discuss their new CD and perform selections and sign copies of the album.

"One of my favorite music labels has a momentous birthday: Nonesuch Records is turning 60 this year," says Deepa Fernandes, co-host of NPR's Here & Now, who spoke with Nonesuch President David Bither to mark the occasion. "Nonesuch has likely influenced your musical diet even if you didn't know it." "It's very hard to say what is a Nonesuch record," Bither says. "It's not a particular genre, but maybe it represents a particular kind of ambition and originality. There's a passionate audience for the music we've tried to champion." You can hear their conversation and several musical selections from over the years here.
