Last week, Ben Folds put out the word that he was looking for fans to lead a series of live ten-minute, online video interviews with him in the run-up to the forthcoming release of his collaboration with Nick Hornby, Lonely Avenue. Potential interviewers were asked to submit a sample question via Ben's site, Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace. The first two fan interviewers have been chosen: Josh Sondock and Lauren Gardier. Ben will be talking with Josh online tomorrow, Wednesday, August 18, starting at 6:30 PM ET, and with Lauren at 7 PM ET, both at benfolds.com/chat.

As part of the interview series, Ben will also be speaking with a number of notable artists, the first of which is the inimitable Mr. Bob Saget. That interview will take place on Thursday, August 19, starting at 4 PM ET, also at benfolds.com/chat, and is surely not to be missed.

Lonely Avenue is due out September 28 on Nonesuch and is available for pre-order now on vinyl, CD, and in the deluxe edition in the Nonesuch Store. Pre-orders include a limited-edition Folds/Hornby-penned manuscript score from the album track "Picture Window," a number of which will be signed by Ben and Nick.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.
