Ben Folds launches his fall tour of the United States with special guest Lady Danville at The Riviera in Chicago tonight. The tour features music from Folds's recently released Nonesuch debut, Lonely Avenue, featuring lyrics by English novelist Nick Hornby. The 14-city tour features a Thanksgiving weekend homecoming performance at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center to benefit the Nashville Symphony and concludes with a show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City December 14. (See tour dates below.)

In between those last two concert dates, Folds will participate in two additional special events: as part of the National Geographic Live series Music on ... Photography, he'll discuss the photos he took of the flooded streets of Nashville at the National Geographic Society's Washington, DC, on December 3; and he'll return as a judge for the second season of NBC's a cappella competition The Sing-Off, which premieres on December 6.

Folds and Hornby are on the latest episode of The Bob Edwards Show on Sirius/XM satellite radio to discuss their collaboration on what the show calls an album of "playful yet often soul-stirring songs." The show airs on Sirius channel 196 and XM 133 at various times throughout the day. For more information, visit bobedwardsradio.com.

The State in Ireland calls Lonely Avenue "an unequivocal triumph. Intelligently written, its 11 tracks manage to move and amuse in equal doses with their tales of illness, lust, love, faith and political scandals, making for one of the singer-songwriter records of the year and an album, which is never short of engaging." Reviewer Steve Cummins says the album "harks back to the classic songwriters of past with slices of Elton John, Spector, Costello, Young, Stevie Wonder, Springsteen, McCartney and Wilson all vying for space as evident influences on one of the year’s unexpected greats." Read the complete review at state.ie.

Lonely Avenue is out now on vinyl, CD, and in a special deluxe edition with four short stories by Hornby and images by acclaimed photographer Joel Meyerowitz. Nonesuch Store orders include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the complete album at checkout.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
