Ben Folds's fall tour, featuring music from Lonely Avenue, his new album with Nick Hornby, kicks off in November and, as reported earlier this week in the Nonesuch Journal, now includes a show at New York's Beacon Theatre on December 14. That performance comes smack dab in the middle of the second season of NBC’s a cappella competition The Sing-Off.

Folds is set to embark on his second season as a judge on the successful series, which will reward America’s best a cappella group with a professional recording contract and $100,000. Folds will be joined by his fellow judges from last season, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger. The show will air from 8 to 10 PM starting December 6 and will continue at that time December 8, 13, 15, and 20.

Another highlight of Folds's fall tour includes a Thanksgiving weekend homecoming performance at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center to benefit the Nashville Symphony. He has designated that, in addition to benefiting the Symphony, a portion of the proceeds from his November 27 show at Tennessee Performing Arts Center will go to two volunteer firefighting organizations in the Middle Tennessee region.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
