Björk has revealed the cover of Biophilia, her forthcoming album. Björk’s most interdisciplinary project to date, Biophilia comprises a studio album, an app, a new website, custom-made musical instruments, live shows, and educational workshops. She has collaborated with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians, and instrument makers to create a unique multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces—particularly those where music, nature and technology meet. The Guardian calls "Virus," the latest app component, "an an innovative and important app. But crucially, also a fun one."

Using this theme, the album's most recent single, "Virus," is an original song as well as a new feature of the Biophilia App that examines the biological virus as part musical instrument, part sonic artwork, and part scientifically informed educational animation. The Guardian calls the Biophilia app "an an innovative and important app. But crucially, also a fun one."

In her recent interview with Pitchfork, Björk commented that "people are always going to need physicality," and to that end, she has released the "Crystalline Series": four 12" vinyl LPs, imported from the UK, featuring remixes of music from Biophilia. The series includes remixes from Grammy-winning engineer Serban Ghenea, British electronic artist Matthew Herbert (who previously collaborated with Björk on her album Vespertine), and musician Omar Souleyman. All four 12"s are available in the Nonesuch Store, where the Biophilia album is available to pre-order on vinyl and CD.

"This was written at a cottage in the English countryside in winter where we had gone on a writing retreat to escape the noise of London," the Staves' Jessica and Camilla Staveley say of their new song, "Sitting By the Fire," out today. "On a cigarette break, Jessica went outside in the dark and could see Camilla through the window, sat at the fireplace writing a song. The song is a photograph of sorts, capturing that moment. We recorded this after we had cut the record [All Now] out in LA. We were back in London and revisited this tune and we felt that it would really be perfect to have [our sister] Emily join us on it to lend her voice to this a cappella recording."
