Dan Auerbach brings his tour to New York City's Webster Hall tonight. Things kicked off last week in Columbus, Ohio, with what UWeekly calls "a very intimate show and one that you should be kicking yourself for if you missed it." The Boston Herald calls Monday's set at the Paradise in Boston an "exhilarating" show, at which "Auerbach opened the sonic floodgates."

Dan Auerbach brings his tour, with openers Justin Townes Earle and Jessica Lea Mayfield, to New York City to perform at Webster Hall tonight. The tour kicked off last Thursday at Newport Musical Hall in Columbus, Ohio, featuring music from Dan's Nonesuch solo debut, Keep It Hid, which, reports UWeekly's Steven Patrick, "came off incredibly well live." Patrick describes it as "a very intimate show and one that you should be kicking yourself for if you missed it." You can read that opening-night review at uweekly.com.

The performers were last in Boston for a sold-out set at the Paradise on Monday. The Boston Herald's Christopher Blagg says it was an "exhilarating" show and is happy to report that, while many solo projects tend to be "stripped-down, self-indulgent affairs," there's no danger of that here. "Thankfully, Dan Auerbach isn’t following that template" on his work outside The Black Keys.

Not long into Monday night's set, "Auerbach opened the sonic floodgates," writes Blagg. "The sludgy riffs and carnival organ fills coursing through 'I Want Some More' provided a mighty contrast to his typical minimalism. Other departures included the swampy psychedelic rock of 'Mean Monsoon' and a surprisingly tender 'When the Night Comes,' a Van Morrison-like blue-eyed soul ballad."
