Brad Mehldau and his trio—Larry Grenadier on bass and Jeff Ballard on drums—played to a full house in Salt Lake City earlier this week for their final Stateside performance before heading to Europe early next month. Salt Lake City's Deseret Morning News says, "The beauty of the trio ... was on full display." Nonesuch will release a live record from the trio on March 25.

The beauty of the trio ... was on full display Monday, as each of the three musicians was allowed to show off his considerable skills without the audience losing awareness of what the rest of the group was doing ... Part of the magic was how effortless the playing looked and how masterful it sounded.
