It was 25 years ago this fall that Caetano Veloso's self-titled album was released in the US on Nonesuch Records. That acoustic guitar set launched a relationship that has since brought more than a dozen unforgettable albums, most recently last year's zii e zie, of which the Times of London declared: "The Brazilian master remains in a league of his own." Now, Veloso's Nonesuch catalog is available digitally, in the Nonesuch Store and on iTunes and Amazon. Veloso is Guest Director of the 2011 Telluride Film Festival, which will be held over Labor Day weekend.

It was 25 years ago this fall that famed Brazilian singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso's self-titled album was released in the United States on Nonesuch Records. That acoustic guitar set, featuring his own classic material and his inimitable interpretations of songs by Cole Porter, Lennon/McCartney, and Michael Jackson, launched a relationship that has since brought more than a dozen unforgettable albums, most recently last year's zii e zie, of which the Times of London declared: "The Brazilian master remains in a league of his own." Now, Veloso's Nonesuch catalog is available digitally in the US, in the Nonesuch Store, the iTunes Store, the Amazon MP3 Store, and other digital music retailers. This digital release makes a few of those albums, no longer available on CD, available again for the first time.

Following the 2010 release of zii e zie, New York Times music critic Nate Chinen noted that, while the songs covered subjects ranging from politics to relationships, "the one abiding constant ... is the sinuous clarity of samba: a thing endlessly variable in its details."

Variable as well is Veloso's Nonesuch catalog, beginning with the spare self-titled album and moving forward through the Arto Lindsay-produced art-rock albums Circulado and Estrangeiro, to his lush collaborations with producer/cellist Jaques Morelenbaum on Livro and Noites do Norte, both tributes to the percussion styles of his native Brazil. Recent additions include the English-language collection, A Foreign Sound, and 2007's spare rock-album, , which features the same young trio as zii e zie.

To download the albums now, go to the Nonesuch Store, iTunes, and Amazon.

Caetano Veloso will be the Guest Director of the 2011 Telluride Film Festival, which will be held over Labor Day weekend, September 2–5, 2011, in Telluride, Colorado. Veloso has been invited to select a series of films to present at the festival, now in its 38th year. In keeping with Telluride Film Festival tradition, Veloso’s film selections, along with the rest of the Telluride lineup, will be kept secret until the festival's Opening Day. The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
