In December 2007, the Nonesuch Store opened at nonesuch.com with just a couple of new releases, namely the soundtracks to two of that season's biggest films: Tim Burton's big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood, with music by Jonny Greenwood. Now, two years later, the store has grown to include hundreds of new and classic Nonesuch albums as CDs, with instant downloads of the album MP3s at no additional cost; nearly two dozen albums on vinyl, like the forthcoming Magnetic Fields release, Realism; and some unforgettable music DVDs, most recently the award-winning Wilco concert film Ashes of American Flags.

To celebrate the second anniversary of the Nonesuch Store, all CDs, LPs, and DVDs on the site are now—in a nod to vinyl—33 1/3% off the standard retail price. That's an extra savings of almost 20% off the everyday prices listed on the site. Sale prices start around $7, with the average title at about $12, and all box sets, like last year's highly giftable Philip Glass retrospective Glass Box, under $70.

This year also saw the addition of more than 600 albums available for purchase as MP3s. While these are not included in the sale, they do come as audiophile-quality (320 kbps) files, most at $10, including many for albums no longer in print as CDs.

To take a look at all that's available and take 33 1/3% of Nonesuch CDs, LPs, and DVDs, visit the Nonesuch Store at nonesuch.com.

"One of my favorite music labels has a momentous birthday: Nonesuch Records is turning 60 this year," says Deepa Fernandes, co-host of NPR's Here & Now, who spoke with Nonesuch President David Bither to mark the occasion. "Nonesuch has likely influenced your musical diet even if you didn't know it." "It's very hard to say what is a Nonesuch record," Bither says. "It's not a particular genre, but maybe it represents a particular kind of ambition and originality. There's a passionate audience for the music we've tried to champion." You can hear their conversation and several musical selections from over the years here.
