Jamm received critical praise in the UK and Europe with Uncut calling it the "African album of the year" and the Guardian saying "Cheikh Lô is back with an album that reconfirms his position as one of the finest, one of the most soulful singers in West Africa." On its North American release, Downbeat awarded the album four stars, describing it as Lô's "best work since the mid-90s."

A superb singer and songwriter as well as a distinctive guitarist, percussionist and drummer Lô has personalized and distilled a variety of influences from West and Central Africa, to create a style that is uniquely his own. Described as "one of the most persuasive, unique and charismatic performers on the world music circuit" (BBC) these dates give North American audiences a rare opportunity to see this remarkable performer play live.
