Chris Thile will be a featured storyteller on the latest episode of The Travel Channel's new series The Traveler’s Guide to Life, hosted by Adam Richman, airing tonight at 10 PM ET. On the series, which premiered last week, guests share stories that shed insight on the things that matter most, including, on tonight's episode, "Hometown," the unique traditions, food, and significant experiences that draw them back to the places where their journeys began. Thile will also be featured on next week's episode, "Celebrations," airing February 9 at 10:30 PM, which focuses holidays, rituals, and life-changing events. For more information, visit travelchannel.com.

Thile is clearly no stranger to travel, spending much of the year on tour with his band Punch Brothers. This weekend, he'll be with a different group of musicians in Cedar Falls, Iowa, performing his Mandolin Concerto with the Waterloo Cedar Fall Symphony at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

The Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier spoke with Thile, "whose list of achievements and accolades is longer than Mahler's third symphony," writes the Courier's Melody Parker, about the Concerto and, among other things, life on the road. "I live a musical life," Thile says. "The creative process happens all the time. Being at home is a luxury I don't have very often." Read the article at wcfcourier.com.

Thile does head home to New York briefly, following his trip to Iowa, to perform with guitarist Michael Daves at New York's Rockwood Music Hall on Wednesday, before joining up with Punch Brothers again to resume their tour next Friday in Colorado. For more information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
