Chris Thile kicks off a month-long solo tour of the United States with two performances in Arizona this weekend: at the University of Arizona's Crowder Hall in Tucson Saturday and the Musical Instrument Museum Music Theater in Phoenix on Sunday. The solo tour, featuring music from Thile's 2013 Nonesuch album, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1, and more, continues through the end of the month with stops in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Davis, Santa Monica, Nashville, and Dallas.

On February 26, Thile joins fellow mandolinist Mike Marshall at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon, for the first of three Pacific Northwest shows together, including stops in Eugene and Bellevue, followed by a duo set at the Savannah Music Festival on March 22. Thile joins his fellow Punch Brothers to tour for the rest of March and plays a duo show of a different sort with label mate pianist Brad Mehldau at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis on April 8.

As noted earlier this week in the Nonesuch Journal, Nickel Creek—Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins—officially reunites for the first time since its 2007 self-described “indefinite hiatus” with a US tour this spring and summer, with shows already announced in Nashville, New York, Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Oakland, as well as at the now sold-out Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Tickets for most shows are are on sale today. Further information about a forthcoming Nickel Creek album and the tour will be announced shortly. You can hear a sneak peak of the album track “Destination” here.
