Conor Oberst visited the BBC studios yesterday to discuss his forthcoming album, Upside Down Mountain, on BBC Radio 6Music's Lauren Laverne program in the morning, also performing "You Are Your Mother's Child" and "Hundreds of Ways" off the new album, and the Jo Whiley show on BBC Radio 2 at night, offering another take on "Hundreds of Ways" and the beloved Bright Eyes song " First Day of My Life," one of Whiley's favorite tunes.

Conor Oberst, whose new album, Upside Down Mountain, is due out on Nonesuch Records on May 19, visited the BBC studios yesterday to discuss the new album and performing live solo sets on BBC Radio 6Music's Lauren Laverne program in the morning and BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley show last night.

Oberst spoke with Laverne about the making of Upside Down Mountain and more and performs a few songs from the new album: "You Are Your Mother's Child" and "Hundreds of Ways." You can hear that session at bbc.co.uk, where the first part starts at two hours and eight minutes into the show and the second at two hours and 37 minutes.

Later that day, on Jo Whiley's show on BBC Radio 2, Oberst shares more on the album, touring, Inside Llewyn Davis, and more and offers another take on "Hundreds of Ways" as well as performance of the beloved Bright Eyes song " First Day of My Life," one of Whiley's favorite tunes. You can hear it at bbc.co.uk starting at 49 minutes in.

Upside Down Mountain is due May 19 and is available to pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with an exclusive print featuring the album art, or via iTunes, both with an instant download of the tracks "Hundreds of Ways" and "Governor’s Ball." Oberst kicks off the first leg of a world tour in support of the new album on May 8 with special guests Dawes.

    David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”
