David Byrne will present his video/audio lecture called Creation in Reverse at Bowery Ballroom in New York City tonight. The piece focuses on the ways that venue and context shape artistic creation. Tonight's presentation is part of the Stories in High Fidelity reading and music series. It will also include storytelling from New York Times columnist Alan Light, the author of The Skills to Pay the Bills: The Story of the Beastie Boys, and Dan Kennedy, author of Rock On: An Office Power Ballad and a regular host of The Moth StorySLAMs in New York City.

As part of the Stories in High Fidelity event, there will be a special music performance by Nicole Atkins and the Brooklyn quintet ECHOecho. Atkins is a featured vocalist on Byrne's forthcoming Todomundo/Nonesuch release, Here Lies Love, which is available for pre-order now in the Nonesuch Store.

Another of the album's contributors, St. Vincent, performed at The Allen Room at Lincoln Center in New York last Friday as part of the American Songbook series. As part of her set, she asked David Byrne to join her, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, and The National's Bryce Dessner on stage. There's coverage of that show at Pitchfork.
