David Byrne will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on February 29, with host John Mulaney. Byrne will perform songs from his American Utopia on Broadway, making for a very Happy Leap Day indeed. This is his first Saturday Night Live appearance since 1989, after a ten-year gap since his 1979 appearance on the show with Talking Heads.

David Byrne’s American Utopia is at Broadway's intimate Hudson Theatre until February 16. Academy Award–winning director Spike Lee is directing a filmed version of the production.

The original cast recording for the Broadway production of David Byrne’s American Utopia is now available in a double-vinyl and double-CD edition and digitally.     Composer Steve Reich talks about creating his 1970–71 piece Drumming—which the Village Voice hailed as “the most important work of the whole minimalist music movement"—in a new video from his publisher Boosey & Hawkes. Steve Reich and Musicians gave the world premiere performance of Drumming at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in December 1971. Their 1987 Nonesuch recording is included in the forthcoming Steve Reich Collected Works, a twenty-seven disc box set, due March 14.
