Banhart trained as a visual artist before making a name in the music world. He draws daily and creates the illustrations for his albums, as he did with his 2013 Nonesuch Records debut album, Mala.
Devendra Banhart recently released a split-effort art book with Adam Tullie titled Unburdened by Meaning and published by Anteism. Tullie directed a short film of Banhart's 2014 tour through Latin America, which you can watch here.
