Emmylou Harris, who is in Austin, Texas, this week to perform at the SXSW Music Conference, has announced a series of European tour dates in May and June in support of her forthcoming Nonesuch release, Hard Bargain. The new dates follow two previously announced European tour dates in Norway. Hard Bargain, due out in April, is now available for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store with an exclusive manuscript lyric sheet of the album's opening song, "The Road," a number of which will be autographed by Harris.
Just before she heads to Europe, Emmylou Harris will take part in a just-announced TimesTalk at TheTimesCenter in New York City on Wednesday, April 27, hosted by the New York Times's Dana Jennings. Harris will discuss her career and perform songs from the new album.
Fans in Norway will get an early taste of what's to come on the tour when Harris performs at the Sentrum Scene in Oslo on April 30 and at Grieghallen in Bergen on May 1, as part of that city's Bergenfest. Harris returns to Scandinavia to launch the remainder of her European tour with performances in Denmark and Sweden, starting May 23.
The tour heads next to Dublin, followed by three dates in the UK, beginning in Glasgow on May 29 and ending at the Festival Hall in London on June 1. From there, it's off to Amsterdam, with three dates in Germany rounding out the tour.
Joining her on the road is her band The Red Dirt Boys, featuring Phil Madeira on accordion, guitar, and keyboards; Ricki Simpkins on mandolin and fiddle; Chris Donohoe on bass; and Bryan Owings on drums.
