Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose latest album, Tell Me, was produced and engineered by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and released last year on Nonesuch Records, launches a spring tour of the United States with a performance at the Rhythm 'n' Blooms festival held at locations throughout downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend. Mayfield's set will take place Saturday evening at the John Black Studio. From there, the tour heads throughout the South, making stops in Jackson, Shreveport, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Little Rock, Nashville, and Louisville, as well as two festivals in Mayfield's home state of Ohio: at the Nelsonville Music Festival and Appalachian Uprising. See below for all of the currently scheduled dates; for details and ticket links, go to nonesuch.com/on-tour.
The New York Times has described Jessica Lea Mayfield's voice as "somewhere between Lucinda Williams’ and Hope Sandoval’s." Rolling Stone likens her Nonesuch debut album, Tell Me, "to the anything-goes alternative country of Neko Case and Wilco." The album made many critics' year's best list for 2011, including those of American Songwriter, Paste, Uncut, Q, and Mojo. To pick up a copy, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CDs come with high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album available at checkout, including the bonus download "I'll Be the One You Want Someday (Live)."
