Joshua Redman, who is currently touring Europe as the special guest of The Bad Plus, is set to make his Irish debut when the Joshua Redman Trio, featuring Reuben Rogers on bass and Gregory Hutchinson on drums, tours Ireland this autumn. The five-day, five-city tour begins at The Button Factory in Dublin on September 12 and includes stops in Limerick, Cork, Dún Laoghaire, as well as a show at The Mac in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Tickets go on sale today.

This autumn also marks the start of the 2012–13 season Wigmore Hall Jazz Series curated by Redman. The saxophonist succeeds label mate and frequent collaborator Brad Mehldau as the Hall’s Jazz Series curator, gathering a stellar line-up of artists to shape his first season. The series begins November 2 with a performance by the Axis Saxophone Quartet, in which Redman joins fellow saxophonists Chris Cheek, Mark Turner, and Chris Potter (who can also be heard on Pat Metheny's new Unity Band album). The program includes both jazz standards and original compositions, arranged and created by members of the group. Cheek returns for the second show in the series on February 1, 2013, for a performance with the Argentine pianist, vocalist and bandleader Guillermo Klein, pianist Aaron Goldberg, and saxophonist Miguel Zenon. And on May 11, Redman is joined by bassist Christian McBride for a duo concert at the Hall. Tickets for all three concerts in the series are on sale now at wigmore-hall.org.uk.

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
