Fifty for the Future is a commissioning initiative of Kronos Quartet, Carnegie Hall, and many other partners and is devoted to contemporary approaches to the string quartet. The project is designed to present music as a living art form and to create new resources for the training of students and emerging professionals. Works for the Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire are being commissioned from an eclectic group of composers—25 men and 25 women, including Kronos Quartet label mate Rhiannon Giddens. Carnegie Hall, lead partner in the project, has named Kronos Quartet holder of the Richard and Barbara Debs Creative Chair for the 2015/16 season. Prior to the workshop, Kronos will perform in concert at Zankel Hall, on April 2. For more on Fifty for the Future, visit kronosquartet.org.
