Laurie Anderson's Heart of a Dog has won the International Cinephile Society Award for Best Documentary. The film, which is currently playing at theaters across the US, will receive its HBO premiere on April 25 and will be screened at the Big Ears Festival and the Brighton Festival this spring. It has been nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary, winners of which will be announced this Saturday, February 27.

Laurie Anderson's new film, Heart of a Dog, has won the International Cinephile Society (ICS) Award for Best Documentary. Heart of a Dog, Anderson's first film in 30 years, is a personal essay encompassing joy and heartbreak and remembering and forgetting, at the heart of which is a lament for her late beloved dog Lolabelle.     David Longstreth’s Song of the Earth, a song cycle for orchestra and voices, is due April 4. Performed by Longstreth with his band Dirty Projectors—Felicia Douglass, Maia Friedman, Olga Bell—and the Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, conducted by André de Ridder, the album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Steve Lacy, Patrick Shiroishi, Anastasia Coope, Tim Bernardes, Ayoni, Portraits of Tracy, and the author David Wallace-Wells. Longstreth says that while Song of the Earth—his biggest-yet foray into the field of concert music—"is not a ‘climate change opera,’” he wanted to “find something beyond sadness: beauty spiked with damage. Acknowledgement flecked with hope, irony, humor, rage.”
