Laurie Anderson has been named to a jury of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, August 31–September 10, 2016. She will join the jury for the Venezia 73 competition presided over by director Sam Mendes. Also on the jury are actresses Gemma Arterton, Nina Hoss, Chiara Mastroianni, and Zhao Wei; directors Joshua Oppenheimer and Lorenzo Vigas; and writer Giancarlo De Cataldo. Anderson's film Heart of a Dog screened in competition in Venice in 2015; the film will be shown in Italian cinemas in September.

Laurie Anderson has been named to one of three international juries of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, taking place August 31–September 10, 2016. She will join the jury for the Venezia 73 competition presided over by director Sam Mendes. The jury will award the following official prizes to the feature films in competition: Golden Lion for Best Film; Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize; Silver Lion for Best Director; Coppa Volpi for Best Actor; Coppa Volpi for Best Actress; "Marcello Mastroianni" Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress; Award for Best Screenplay; and the Special Jury Prize.

Laurie Anderson has curated a celebration of the work and legacy of Lou Reed as part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival in New York City taking place this Saturday, July 30. Titled The Bells: A Daylong Celebration of Lou Reed, after Reed's song "The Bells," the full day of free events was curated by Anderson with Reed's friend and longtime producer Hal Willner.     Donnacha Dennehy’s Land of Winter is out now. The piece, performed by the composer's longtime collaborators Alarm Will Sound and conductor Alan Pierson, explores the subtleties of Ireland’s seasons via twelve connected sections representing the months of the year. "It is the varying quality of light that truly demarcates the seasons," Dennehy says, "from the shorter days of grey or piercing light in the winter to the warmer but mercurial light of summer days that at solstice stretch almost to midnight. I like this play between light and time, and it is the major inspiration behind the piece." You can watch a video for “July" here.
