Laurie Anderson has returned home to New York City following a final tour stop performing music from Homeland, her latest Nonesuch album, at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. Anderson will be signing copies of the new CD at New York's Other Music record store tonight. The free event, originally scheduled for 6 PM, is now slated to begin at 8 PM.

Newly added to tonight's event is a special performance from Fenway Bergamot, Anderson's male alter ego, who is featured on the cover of Homeland and can be heard on the album track "Another Day in America." Bergamot can also be seen in a series of videos at nonesuch.com/media, offering his unique perspective on various social issues of the day. Tonight will also include a raffle for a pair of tickets to the Opening Night of Anderson's Delusion performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) for the Next Wave Festival, September 21.

Anderson recently spoke with VenusZine about Homeland and the many project to which she has dedicated herself of late. This "workaholic" has "carved out a reputation as one of the world’s most important multimedia artists," writes VenusZine writer Christopher Matthew Jensen. "To call her a legend is to understate the obvious. For over three decades now, Anderson has been a hyper-creative force of productivity—at the forefront of the avant-garde and just behind the curtain for countless pop culture developments."

Jensen goes on to explain that, "Like much of Anderson’s previous work, the music on Homeland is an unable to be categorized pastiche of countless sounds and styles ... Although the album ebbs smoothly, almost like a film score, the song construction is far more complicated than a casual listen would suggest."

The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.

The Staves' new EP Happy New Year, out today, includes three acoustic versions of tracks from their new album, All Now—"I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," "After School," and "All Now"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Also out now: an acoustic performance video for "After School," which the duo calls "a love song to our sister Emily inspired by the bands we were listening to in the '90s. Putting on the rose-tinted glasses and embracing nostalgia."
