It was just two weeks ago we announced the search for collaborators to remix Laurie Anderson's new song “Only an Expert,” off her upcoming Nonesuch release, Homeland, and the response has been great. The competition is set to increase as the May 13 cut-off date nears, and the public and the jury, including Anderson and Lou Reed, begin to review the submissions. Enter today at Indaba Music, and pre-order Homeland, along with a signed copy of the "Only an Expert" vinyl single, in the Nonesuch Store.

It was just two weeks ago that Laurie Anderson, Nonesuch Records, and Indaba Music announced a search for collaborators to remix Anderson's new song “Only an Expert,” from her upcoming June 22 Nonesuch release, Homeland, and already, the response has been great, with almost 1,000 entries so far.

Now, the competition is set to increase as the search passes its halfway point, and the May 13 cut-off date for entries approaches. It's then that the public at large takes control and starts the voting process to pick its favorite remixes. That's also when the jury of experts, including Anderson and Homeland producer Lou Reed, will review the submissions and make their pick. Indaba will announce all the winners at the end of the month. Now's also your chance to pre-order the CD/DVD of Homeland, Anderson's first studio album in ten years, along with an autographed copy of the 12" vinyl "Only an Expert" single.     The Way Out of Easy, the first album from guitarist Jeff Parker and his long-running ETA IVtet—saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Jay Bellerose—since their 2022 debut Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy, which Pitchfork named one of the Best Albums of the 2020s So Far, is out now on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Like that album, The Way Out of Easy comprises recordings from LA venue ETA, where Parker and the ensemble held a weekly residency for seven years. During that time, the ETA IVtet evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for its transcendent, long-form journeys into innovative, groove-oriented improvised music. All four tracks on The Way Out of Easy come from a single night in 2023, providing an unfiltered view of the ensemble, fully in their element.
