"My participation in country music was short lived, but it was the launchpad for my career," k.d. lang tells Talia Schlanger, guest host of CBC's Q, ahead of her reuniting with her band The Reclines for the first time in 35 years to perform on the Canadian Country Music Awards and her being inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame this weekend. "It's nice to be recognized, that I had an impact for that small amount of time ... I'm lit up about it, what can I say? It was a really fun period of my life." You can hear their conversation here.

"My participation in country music was short lived, but it was the launchpad for my career," k.d. lang tells Talia Schlanger, guest host of CBC's Q, ahead of her reuniting with her band The Reclines for the first time in 35 years and her being inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame this weekend. "I only kind of think of myself as a country artist for six or seven years, but it's nice to be recognized, that I had an impact for that small amount of time ... I'm lit up about it, what can I say? It was a really fun period of my life." You can hear their conversation below via Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

k.d. lang and The Reclines will perform at Rogers Place in Edmonton this Saturday, as part of the Canadian Country Music Awards, which will be broadcast live on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app from 8pm ET.

“The emotional and sentimental journey that I’ve navigated over the last 35 to 40 years has been extensive — and I’ve come to a point where I’m very, very proud and amused and kind of actually impressed by who I was back then,” lang recently told the Toronto Star. “I seemed to have unbridled faith and confidence — and a pure, inspired vision, which I think I took for granted when I was younger. Now (that) I’m older, I realize how precious that is.” You can read what else she had to say here.

Brad Mehldau has shared new videos filmed at the Village Vanguard in New York City in which he discusses and performs from his latest albums, After Bach II and Après Fauré, which were released on Nonesuch this past May. On the former, he performs some improvised variations on Bach's Goldberg theme, as he does on After Bach II, and on the latter, he discusses the impact of Fauré's final nocturne, no. 13, and performs his own piece Après Fauré No. 4: Vision.
