Randy Newman was a guest on NPR's Morning Edition. He performed in the NPR studio and spoke with host Steve Inskeep about his new album, Dark Matter. You can hear the on-air piece and their extended, full interview here. The album has been named WFUV's New Dig. "Dark Matter arrives at the right time and delivers the commentary and insight we crave from Newman," says WFUV. "The man is one of the era’s great songwriters, composers, and storytellers, and Dark Matter perfectly fits in his legacy." WFUV recently recorded a live session with Newman at NYC's Electric Lady Studios; it airs tonight and is available now at wfuv.org.

Dark Matter has been named New York member-supported radio station WFUV's New Dig this week. "In turbulent times of political and social unrest, Newman is someone to automatically turn to for commentary, opinion and insight," says WFUV's Darren DeVivo. "Dark Matter arrives at the right time and delivers the commentary and insight we crave from Newman ... WFUV recently recorded an intimate live session Newman performed at Electric Lady Studios in New York City hosted by Rita Houston. The show performance and interview will air on 90.7FM and wfuv.org tonight at 8pm ET and is available now at wfuv.org.

    Composer Steve Reich talks about creating his 1970–71 piece Drumming—which the Village Voice hailed as “the most important work of the whole minimalist music movement"—in a new video from his publisher Boosey & Hawkes. Steve Reich and Musicians gave the world premiere performance of Drumming at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in December 1971. Their 1987 Nonesuch recording is included in the forthcoming Steve Reich Collected Works, a twenty-seven disc box set, due March 14.
