When The Highwomen made their live concert debut at Newport Folk Festival, Yola joined them there as well. Billboard says the group "set a sky-high standard with a performance that was the sum of its extraordinary parts." Rolling Stone called it "a triumph" and dubbed Yola "the single most sought-after voice at this year’s festival" for multiple performances including the Highwomen set, a surprise Dolly Parton performance, and Yola's own "triumphant" set.
Produced by Grammy Award–winning producer Dave Cobb (who produced Lake Street Dive's 2016 Nonesuch debut album, Side Pony), The Highwomen will be released September 6 on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records.
