Congratulations to Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, whose latest album, City of Gold, won the IBMA Bluegrass Music Award for Album of the Year at the ceremony in Raleigh last night. They won the GRAMMY Award for Best Bluegrass Album for City of Gold earlier this year, and their debut album, Crooked Tree, won both awards last year.
Congratulations to singer, songwriter, and musician Molly Tuttle and her band Golden Highway, whose latest album, City of Gold, won the IBMA Bluegrass Music Award for Album of the Year at the ceremony in Raleigh, North Carolina, last night. Tuttle and the band—fiddler Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, mandolinist Dominick Leslie, bass player Shelby Means, and banjo player Kyle Tuttle—won the GRAMMY Award for Best Bluegrass Album for City of Gold earlier this year. Their debut album, Crooked Tree, won both awards last year.
Produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and recorded in Nashville, City of Gold was inspired by Tuttle’s near constant touring with Golden Highway and their growth together as musicians and performers, cohering as a band. These 13 tracks—mostly written by Tuttle and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show)—capture the electric energy of the band’s live shows by highlighting each member’s musical strengths. City of Gold also features special guest Dave Matthews on the song “Yosemite.”
Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway's new six-song EP, Into the Wild, was released last week. The EP features three new songs—the title track, “Getaway Girl,” and a cover of Kate Wolf’s “Here in California”—as well as previously released covers of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” and an alternate version of the City of Gold track “Stranger Things.”
Tuttle and the band's ongoing tour takes them to The Meadows in Buena Vista, Colorado, for Billy Strings: Renewal 2024 this Saturday then heads to her home state of California, where they play two sets at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park next weekend.
