Natalie Merchant and Leave Your Sleep, her first studio album in seven years, are the subject of feature profiles in both the Irish Times and yesterday's Sunday Times of London, the latter of which describes the album as "the biggest, most musically ambitious" project of her career and includes a video of Merchant performing the album track "The Man in the Wilderness." The release of Leave Your Sleep, her Nonesuch debut, is just over two weeks away. And now comes word that Merchant will begin release day, Tuesday, April 13, with a performance on ABC's Good Morning America. The following week, on Wednesday, April 21, she'll play The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC.
In between those television appearances and in the weeks that follow, Merchant will give several intimate performances in the United States, and then, as previously announced, across Europe. Additionally, a full US summer tour is in the works and will be announced soon. Stay tuned to the Nonesuch Journal for more information on that to follow.
Below are all of the currently scheduled US performances, including previously announced events at New York's Barnes & Noble and, for the PEN Festival Cabaret, the Greenwich Village club (Le) Poisson Rouge, plus new dates in New York, Los Angeles, Boulder, Boston, and DC.
