Nickel Creek—Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins—is in the midst of its summer tour of the United States, and stopped by Newport's Fort Adams State Park for a set at the famed Newport Folk Festival over the weekend. NPR Music was there to capture the performance, which is now streaming in full.
The band's new album, A Dotted Line, which was released this past spring on Nonesuch Records, "naturally reflects its members' creatively ambitious recent pursuits," says NPR's Stephen Thompson. "As with everything the band does, it blends playful lightness with remarkable musical chops."

Nickel Creek heads to the West Coast for the next leg of its tour, starting at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, Washington, on Friday, followed by a set at Pickathon in Happy Valley, Oregon, and two shows in Northern California: at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts in Davis and Mountain Winery in Saratoga.
The Secret Sisters, Sarah Jarosz, and Josh Ritter will be joining the band throughout the tour. See below for the complete list of dates. For details and ticket links, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
To pick up a copy of A Dotted Line, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where vinyl and CD orders include a free MP3 download of the complete album at checkout; MP3 and FLAC lossless files are also available to purchase there.
