Emmylou Harris will take part in the relaunched Lilith Fair traveling music festival, which is being held for the first time since 1999. Harris joins dozens of fellow female singer-songwriters, including Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, and tour co-founder Sarah McLachlan in the charity festival spanning three dozen cities. Harris' leg of the tour begins Friday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV and continues Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. Harris' stint with Lilith Fair spans a total of six shows and will last throughout the week.

On Sunday, Laurie Anderson performs the first of two consecutive appearances at Philadelphia's World Cafe Live, performing tracks from her acclaimed June release in a set titled "Another Day in America: Songs from the album Homeland & other stories." Following her two-night stint in Philadelphia, Anderson will perform in New York City and Alexandria, VA next week.

The Black Keys close out the European leg of their tour with two festival appearances. On Friday, the band performs in Naas, Ireland at the Punchestown Racecourse as a part of Oxegen, Ireland's largest music festival. They perform on the Main Stage, appearing alongside artists such as Arcade Fire, Jay-Z, and Vampire Weekend among others. On Saturday, the group travels to Kinross-shire, Scotland to take part in the T-in-the-Park Festival, performing on the Radio 1/NME Stage. They return to the states in late July to begin their extensive North American tour in support of Brothers.

The Carolina Chocolate Drops, touring in support of Genuine Negro Jig, appear at the annual Sugar Grove Festival in Sugar Grove, NC, performing both Friday and Saturday at the Old Cove Creek School. The Drops will continue to make many festival appearances throughout the summer, their next one being Milwaukee's Radio Summer Camp festival on July 18.

Bill Frisell, having recently been performing with Eyvind Kang and Rudy Royston as Bill Frisell's Beautiful Dreamers, finishes off his brief European tour on Friday with a performance at Norway's Kongsberg Cinema, taking part in the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. The trio resumes performing next week with a string of appearances at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, MN.

Brad Mehldau continues his solo tour of Europe with two weekend shows in Italy. He performs Friday at San Giovanni Valdarno's Main Square, and on Saturday, he appears at the Auditorium Horszowiski in Monforte d'Alba. Mehldau wraps up his European tour on Thursday, and will return to the states for North American dates in September.

Also touring Europe is the Pat Metheny Group, who will be performing three dates in three countries over the weekend. On Friday, Metheny, along with Lyle Mays, Steve Rodby and Antonio Sanchez rounding out the group, begin "The Songbook Tour" with an appearance in Rotterdam, Netherlands, performing on the Nile stage of the North Sea Jazz Festival. The group then travels to the United Kingdom to perform at London's Barbican Hall on Saturday. To close out the weekend, the group performs in Gent, Belgium's Gent Jazz Festival with a headlining slot on Sunday night. The group will remain in Europe for a two-week string of performances in Italy.

Youssou N'Dour makes a headlining appearance in Thonon-les-Bains on Saturday as part of France's Montjoux Festival. N'Dour will remain in Europe for several shows throughout July.

Joshua Redman joins fellow Nonesuch artists Pat Metheny, Caetano Veloso and Rokia Traoré at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands with two Friday sets. He appears as a special guest with the Ornette Coleman Quartet on the Amazon stage in a set titled "This Is Our Music Now," and later performs on the Hudson stage as the Joshua Redman Double Trio featuring Matt Penman, Reuben Rogers, Gregory Hutchinson and Bill Stewart. The Double Trio will continue to tour Europe throughout July, while Redman returns for North American dates starting in August.

Allen Toussaint will appear Sunday at Alabama's Gulf Shores Public Beach as a special guest on CMT's live 90-minute concert special, Jimmy Buffet & Friends Live from the Gulf Coast, rescheduled from July 1 due to Hurricane Alex. The performance will air commercial-free on CMT, and will be available for streaming from CMT.com. Additionally, the event will be simulcast live on satellite radio's Radio Margaritaville.

Rokia Traoré is one of the numerous Nonesuch artists making an appearance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands, performing a late night set at the Darling stage on Saturday.

Rounding out the group of Nonesuch artists performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival is Caetano Veloso, performing a late-night Friday set on the Amazon stage.

Sara Watkins continues her North American tour with three weekend shows. She performs with Dar Williams and the Hillbenders on Friday and Saturday at the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield, MO, and Blueberry Hill in St. Louis, MO respectively. On Sunday, she will perform as part of the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, KY, which also features performances by the Smashing Pumpkins, the Flaming Lips, and Widespread Panic among others.

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy makes a few solo appearances this weekend, starting Friday with a performance at Spain's Vigo Transforma Festival in Vigo Port Maritim, playing on the Heineken Stage. He follows up with a second Spain festival appearance with a Saturday night performance at the Bilbao BBK Live festival.

    American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America.
