Ben Folds continues his Lonely Avenue tour of Asia tonight with a show at Club Quattro in Hiroshima, Japan. He will remain in Japan for two additional shows next week before concluding this leg of the tour in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday.

The Jakarta Globe, reviewing Folds's recent tour stop in Indonesia, says Folds had the crowd "in the palm of his hand from the first notes of the opening song, 'Effington,' one of the most energetic tracks from his 2010 album Lonely Avenue ... Folds won over the audience with what was certainly one of the best shows Jakarta has seen this year. And all it took was a single piano."

---

Amadou & Mariam perform at the Cooper Square Hotel Penthouse in New York City on Sunday as a part of the Annie O. Music Series. This is the duo’s second performance with the series, presenting L’Afrik C’est Chic, an intimate session with special guests and DJ sets before and after.

---

Laurie Anderson continues her European tour with two performances of her latest work, Delusion, this weekend: at the Auditori de Girona in Girona, Spain, tonight, and at the Casa da Música's Sala Suggia in Porto, Portgual, on Sunday. Previewing Anderson’s recent performance in England, the BBC called her “a highlight of this year’s Brighton Festival.”

---

Shawn Colvin, who recently performed on HBO's Treme, has two shows this weekend, one at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia, tonight, and the other at Musikfest Café in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

---

After having launched her European tour last week, Emmylou Harris heads to Amsterdam tonight for a show at the Royal Theatre Carré and to the Philharmonie in Munich on Sunday. The tour follows her recent Nonesuch release, Hard Bargain, and continues in Germany next week.

The Evening Standard, reviewing her recent performance at London's Royal Festival Hall, calls her "shiveringly affecting."

---

k.d. lang & the Siss Boom Bang continue their UK tour featuring music from their new album, Sing it Loud, with a second consecutive night at London's Royal Festival Hall and a Saturday night concert at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall. Little Miss Higgins opens throughout the tour.

---

Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica perform in Ostrava, Czech Republic, at the Ostrava City Cultural Centre tonight. On the program are works by Pärt. Schumann, and Beethoven.

---

Kronos Quartet remains close to home this weekend for two concerts with pipa virtuoso Wu Man at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco tonight and Saturday night. They perform A Chinese Home, a multimedia piece conceived by Wu, Kronos Quartet's David Harrington, and Chen Shi-Zheng, as well as Tan Dun's Ghost Opera.

---

As noted earlier today in the Nonesuch Journal, The Low Anthem launches its US spring tour this weekend, with headline shows at the Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio, tonight and Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, with former band member Daniel Lefkowitz opening both nights. On Sunday afternoon, The Low Anthem offers a free in-store performance at Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis, Missouri, before its show with Mumford & Sons at The Pageant in St. Louis that night.

---

Jessica Lea Mayfield concludes her European tour with two shows this weekend: at Prinzenbar in Hamburg tonight and Upstairs @ The Paradiso in Amsterdam on Saturday. She returns to the States for a set at Bonnaroo next weekend.

---

Pat Metheny participates in the World Science Fair taking place in New York City this week. He is the focus of Music and the Spark of Spontaneity, a performance and panel discussion, moderated by WNYC's John Schaefer, examining what goes on inside the brain as music is being created. The event, being held at the Great Hall of Cooper Union Saturday night, offers a live tour of Metheny's masterful musical mind at work as he performs and engages in discussion with leading scientist/musicians.

---

Allen Toussaint joins the American Metropole Orchestra, led by Keller Coker, for a performance at Western Oregon University's Rice Auditorium in Monmouth, Oregon, Saturday night. The concert is the last event in the Smith Fine Arts Series 2010-11 season.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
