It’s opening weekend at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and two Nonesuch artists are taking the stage in sunny Indio, California: David Byrne and Fleet Foxes play back-to-back sets at the Outdoor Theatre starting at 7pm both this Saturday and next.

David Byrne began the US leg of his American Utopia world tour in San Diego last night, and continues in California with his set at Coachella on Saturday. He and his 12-piece band give a sold-out show at Centennial Hall in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday. NPR says of the new album: “If a brain in a jar could observe the world, make sense of it and churn it into a batch of songs, it would make the album American Utopia.”

Fleet Foxes continue the current leg of their US Crack-Up tour in California this weekend, with a set at Coachella on Saturday and a show at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay in San Diego on Sunday.

Shye Ben-Tzur, Jonny Greenwood, and the Rajasthan Express are on the road as special guests of Radiohead, opening for the band on its Latin American tour, including Saturday’s sold-out show at Tecnopolis in Buenos Aires for the Soundhearts Festival. They perform songs from their 2015 album, Junun, which was recorded in a makeshift studio inside the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India, with Radiohead's producer Nigel Godrich. The Times of London called it “essential listening."

Jonny Greenwood’s score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, Phantom Thread, was released earlier this year on CD and digitally, and will be available in a deluxe double-vinyl package next Friday.

Olivia Chaney and fellow singer-songwriter Alela Diane, with whom she is touring Europe as special guest, perform at Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium, tonight, and Doornroosje in Nijmegen, Netherlands, on Saturday, following last night’s tour launch at Union Chapel in London. “Live, Chaney has a casual yet commanding presence,” says the New Yorker. “It’s as if a mystical spirit has entered the room. With an earthiness to her expressive soprano, Chaney is bringing the grand tradition of British folk music into the twenty-first century.”

Chaney will release her new album, Shelter, on Nonesuch in June. The album, produced by Thomas Bartlett, features eight original songs, along with Chaney's takes on Purcell's "O Solitude" and the Everly Brothers’ "Long Time Gone.”

Pianist Jeremy Denk gives a solo recital at The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College in upstate New York on Sunday afternoon. He performs works by Mozart, Prokofiev, Schumann, and Beethoven. Denk paired Beethoven’s Symphony No. 32 in C Minor with Ligeti’s Piano Études on his Nonesuch Records debut album.

Rhiannon Giddens begins a spring US tour, with music from her critically acclaimed 2017 album, Freedom Highway, at Lucas Theatre for the Arts in Savannah, Georgia, tonight, as part of Savannah Music Festival. From there, she heads to the Carolinas for concerts at Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Saturday, and Spinning Jenny in Greer, South Carolina, on Sunday.

Pianist Richard Goode gives a solo recital at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, New York, on Sunday afternoon, performing works by Byrd, Bach, Beethoven, and Debussy. The Los Angeles Times calls Goode’s approach to Bach “a small miracle of sensitivity, expression and nuance,” while the New York Times describes his Beethoven performances as “remarkable” and “surprisingly intimate,” praising his playing both for its “organic naturalness” and “unerringly lyric sensibility.”

Kronos Quartet plays a sold-out show at Wesleyan University’s Crowell Concert Hall in Middletown, Connecticut, on Sunday. On the program are works by Rhiannon Giddens, John Coltrane, Terry Riley, Pete Townshend, and more, including pieces composed for the quartet’s Fifty for the Future commissioning project. Earlier that morning, Kronos’ David Harrington hosts a listening session at the university’s World Music Hall, giving ticketholders an insight into the music that has been turning his ears on lately.

Brad Mehldau and his Trio—Larry Grenadier on bass and Jeff Ballard on drums—launched a US tour ahead of their forthcoming album, Seymour Reads the Constitution!, earlier this week, and continue in Texas this weekend: at the Cullen Performance Hall at the University of Houston tonight and the Arts & Technology Lecture Hall at UT Dallas in Richardson on Saturday. The trio then heads west to Colorado for a concert at Boulder Theater on Sunday. Saxophonist Joshua Redman performs as a special guest of the Reis Demuth Wiltgen Trio at Chapiteau in Cully, Switzerland, on Saturday, as part of the Cully Jazz Festival.
