As July winds down and August begins this weekend, the UK summer festival season is in full swing, and Nonesuch artists are well represented at two such gatherings this weekend. Rhiannon Giddens and Punch Brothers headline the weekend-long Southern Fried Festival with a double bill at Perth Concert Hall by the River Tay in Perth, Scotland, tonight. Both artists are also featured on the main stage of the long-running Cambridge Folk Festival at Cherry Hinton Hall in Cambridge, with Giddens performing on Saturday and Punch Brothers on Sunday. Joining her label mates on the Cambridge line-up in Olivia Chaney, who also takes the main stage on Saturday. Both Giddens and Chaney will be featured on BBC Radio 2's live coverage from Cambridge on Saturday; tune in then at bbc.co.uk.

Between their festival sets, Punch Brothers head to London for their own show at Royal Festival Hall at Southbank Centre Saturday night. It's a return to the venue following two sold-out shows there earlier this year. On Monday, the band heads back to Scotland and keeps going for a show in the Shetland Islands.

Also at London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday: Steve Reich's Clapping Music app gets its live launch in a free public workshop with London Sinfonietta in the Clore Ballroom. Developed by the London Sinfonietta, Queen Mary University of London, and Touchpress, the app offers an interactive experience in learning and understanding rhythmic patterns through Reich’s seminal work.

---

Sam Amidon, though based in London, is in the States for multiple sets at Pickathon on Pendarvis Farm in the beautifully named Happy Valley, Oregon, this weekend. Amidon opens the festival's Woods Stage this afternoon—which fans around the world can hear streaming live via KEXP at 12:40 PM PT—then plays the penultimate set in the Lucky Barn Saturday evening. Keeping the UK summer festival tradition going, he plays End of the Road in Salisbury the first weekend in September.

---

The Black Keys are festival headliners as well this weekend, closing out Canada's Osheaga Festival with their Sunday-night set in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal. The band has another festival headlining set next weekend at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

---

Jeremy Denk joins the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra and conductor Louis Langrée to perform Brahms's left-hand transcription of Bach's Chaconne and Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, featuring Brahms’s symphonic cadenza, in Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York City tonight and Saturday. The Festival Orchestra closes out the program with a performance of Brahms's Fourth Symphony.

---

Audra McDonald joins the Sun Valley Summer Symphony for a performance at the Sun Valley Pavillion in Sun Valley, Idaho, as part of the orchestra's gala event Sunday evening. McDonald and her husband, Will Swenson, begin a three-week run at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts, performing in Eugene O'Neill's final play, A Moon for the Misbegotten, starting this Wednesday, August 5.

As recently noted in the Nonesuch Journal, McDonald has embarked on a campaign to raise $25,000 or more for Covenant House in its 2015 Broadway Sleep Out fundraising campaign to serve homeless young people in need. She is offering an array of one-of-a-kind prizes in exchange for donations made between now and Wednesday, August 5, including personalized Tweets, signed CDs, singing telegrams, video messages, and a chance to join her for hot chocolate at Sardi's.

---

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell perform their second of two Pacific Northwest zoo shows, following Wednesday's set at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, at the Oregon Zoo in Portland tonight. Keeping with the animal theme, the duo head to Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Kinilchik, Alaska, to close out Salmonfest on Sunday night.

---

Robert Plant continues his European tour with a headlining set at the Notodden Blues Festival in Notodden, Norway, tonight. Tickets for Plant's recently announced shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, and at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City in September are on sale now; for tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

American Railroad, the new album from the Silkroad Ensemble with Rhiannon Giddens, is out now. It is the culmination of four years of research, collaboration, and music-making, having brought Silkroad artists all across the US to uncover and uplift stories of those who built the transcontinental railroad and connecting railways across North America. "The result is a tapestry of stories, traditions, and music that have shaped our multifaceted cultural identity, and that must be heard and recognized," Giddens says. Also out now are a performance video of the track "Mahk Jchi" and the first episode of the American Railroad podcast series. The US fall tour continues to November 23.
